5 Day Masterclass Oil Painting Workshop with Solomon Kammer

WORKSHOP LESSON PLAN

Join Solomon Kammer, the renowned Australian portrait painter, for an immersive five-day oil painting workshop in a private studio in Adelaide.

This workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced painters seeking training in the foundations of oil painting technique and the rules of portraiture. This workshop was meticulously developed by Solomon to deliver a comprehensive and intensive masterclass in oil painting and portraiture. Distilling complex artistic fundamentals in an accessible lesson plan, this is a learning experience that is not to be missed by dedicated artists seeking to drastically build or advance their painting skills in a short time.

Through various lectures, demos and painting exercises, students work their way through an incremental lesson plan that sees them mastering materials, tone, edges, portrait rules, temperature and colour mixing.

Students will create a tonal chart, a monochromatic portrait and a Zorn colour palette with all lessons then being consolidated into the final exercise; a complete colour master-copy portrait study of ‘Self Portrait in Red Coat’ by Anders Zorn.

With a limited class size of just 15 students, Solomon ensures an exclusive personalised learning experience for each participant, devoting significant time to supporting individuals in their artistic journey and providing tailored tutoring methods that align with their unique learning styles.

Materials supplied include:

• High quality oil paint ( titanium white, ivory black, ultramarine blue, cadmium red)

• Odourless solvent and solvent jar

• Liquin medium

• 2 x flat brush of varying sizes

• Printed references

• 3 x canvas panel

• Paper palettes

• Paper towel

• Easels

Students must bring their own:

• notebook+pen/pencil

• Lunch or purchase from nearby vendors

• Phone charger or any other equipment or personal items needed

Light snacking will be provided throughout as well as tea, coffee and water.

MID WEEK DINNER

An optional group dinner takes place on day 3 at the cost of each attendee at a local favourite restaurant.
